The band Frame of Mind put on an Outstanding Show last night at Coopers Ale Works. I Love this band and over the years they just keep getting better. Playing over 200 shows a year for the last Six years they started out in So Cal, moved to Idaho, and now they live in Reno. The latest change in the band is the addition of Drummer Ben "Sy" Bodine, formally from the local band Organic Flood. As I wrote in a blog about them a couple of years ago, if you look up Jam Band in the Dictionary it will say “See Frame of Mind as in see them play”. I love the shows they put on and the way they bring out all the great music festy loving folks to pack the dance floor. Coopers has had them there every couple of months and I hope they keep it up.

The Band No Taboo put on a great show Sunday at The Chief Crazy Horse Inn. They played during the Victorian Christmas in downtown Nevada City Sunday Afternoon. The band consists of Michael Powers wailing on Lead Guitar and Fiddle, David Bastian on Keyboards, Sax, and Harp, Jeff Marshall on Bass, and the Drummer is David Pazos. These guys are joined by Bimmy Rode on lead vocals and percussion. She has opened shows for greats such as BB King, Jefferson Starship, Taj Mahal, just to name a few. I love this high energy band and the songs they play are all ones that I know and can sing along to. They will be playing again this coming Saturday 12/22 at Coopers Ale Works. I know that I’ll be there.

I love Blues Music and last nights Blues Jam at Coopers Ale Works was awesome. Every Thursday night Don Gates and the Timekeepers are there and a different artist is featured each week. This week it was Oliver Compton, who by the way, is putting on a Sunday Afternoon Blues Jam at Coopers coming up on 12/23 & 12/30. So the night started out with Don Gates banging on the Drums, Gary tickling the Ivories, Mitch Favor Burning up the Lead Guitar, Greg King wailing on the Bass, and Oliver Compton smoking on the Rhythm Guitar. As the night went on other artist took the stage to play including Michael Clemens, Keith, Mike, Seth, and Bruce (BB) all playing Guitar and Dennis singing and playing the hell out of the Harp. I had a wonderful time and I will be back again next week.
