The Robben Ford Trio put on an exceptional show last night at the Miners Foundry. Robben is one of the premiere electric guitarists today, particularly known for his blues playing as well as his ability to be comfortable in a variety of musical contexts. A four-time Grammy nominee, he has played with artists as diverse as Joni Mitchell, Jimmy Witherspoon, Miles Davis, George Harrison, Phil Lesh, Bonnie Raitt, Claus Ogerman, Michael McDonald, and many, many others. There were more than 300 music lovers who attended last nights show. Local favorites the Perry Mills Project opened the show with a stellar performance. They have been around for a while and were formally known as Objects in a Mirror. They played some great new original songs and I thought they were outstanding. The last time I saw Robben Ford play was about 23 years ago and I’m so glad I was there last night. This show was one of the best I have seen here locally and was put on by Mikail Graham and Nevada City Music Events.
