The Band Green Machine put on an outstanding show Friday night at The Chief Crazy Horse. From Visalia, CA they play Reggae Music with a Jam Band Flair. I thought that Tina Simmons Avila on Bass Guitar and Vocals did a bang-up job and Ras Horace was smashing on Lead Vocals. I helped get them the gig at The Crazy Horse and they sent their poster with “Festival John Presents” on the top. Everyone I talked to at the show said how much they liked their music and how they were not to loud for the small bar. I had an exceptional time and will be back on May 3rd. when they play at the Crazy Horse again.

DJ 7 put on an outstanding show last night at Coopers in Nevada City. He spins the disc’s every Thursday at Coop’s and always does a great job playing Reggae, Hip Hop, and R&B. Sometimes he has special guest come in and sing or rap and last night he had very exceptional guests. Chad (the mad chatter from Organic Flood), and Gavin (the Lyrical Miracle) got up together and rapped an awesome set of tunes. I enjoy these Thursday Nights every week and will be back again next week.

Don Gates & the Timekeepers put on an exceptional show every Tuesday Night at Coopers in Nevada City. The Timekeepers are Don Gates Banging on the Drums, Greg King Wailing on the Bass, and a guest guitarist each week. Last night it was Danny Buttiacavoli Playing the Hell out of the Lead Guitar and Lead Vocals. They did a lot of Classic Rock & R&B Tunes and the music was outstanding. Also during the night Bruce (BB) got up and played with these guys and Rhonda sang some great songs. I had a wonderful time and will be back next Tuesday Night to see who is playing with them.

Izabella Rocked Coopers last night in Nevada City. I really had a great time at the show and enjoyed the opening band as well. The Local Band Buckskiners Rendezvous opened up for Izabella. With David Creamer on Guitar, Harp & Vocals, Jad Wenger on Violin, Clay Taylor on Bass, & James Jolansing on Drums (Hope I got the names right?). These guys are exceptional and I can’t wait till they play again. They put on a great show and got us already for Izabella who put the night away musically. What a night and Izabella is playing again tonight YAAAA!

There is a new band in town. Called “All Around Town” which features Jay Tausig (from D’arcana) on Guitar, Keyboards, & Sax, Gary Campus (from The DeadBeats) on Drums, Dr. Greg & T-Bone (from Synergy) on Guitar and Bass respectively and Singers Kimberly Bass, & Erin Gailsdaughter. These guys put on a stellar show last night at The Chief Crazy Horse. Their music was at times original jam band and also they did some great cover tunes including a couple of songs by Robin Trower that just blew me away. I was amazed by them and enjoyed the whole night. I can’t wait till they play again.

Sunday was a great day for music in Nevada City. I started out at the Blues Jam at Coopers. This happens every Sunday from 3-7pm. Oliver Compton & the Comptones are the Host band every week and then Jammers get up and play. Almost every week we find Mitch Favor Burning up the Lead Guitar, and Oliver Compton smoking on the Rhythm Guitar. Other artist that took the stage to play include Michael Clemens.
Then I went The Stonehouse and saw Nina Clark sing Irish tunes and another gal playing the Bagpipes. Then the Blarney Boys played more Irish songs.
OK! I then went back to Coopers for the rest of the evening as Soulmedic and the Mash Unit put on a outstanding show with DJ Seven opening the night. WOW!! What a afternoon and evening of music. I have not been out much lately as I have been sick.
