The Wednesday Night Open Mike at The Chief Crazy Horse is a great show every week but this week was special. The regulars show up every week but this week we had some unexpected guest. The night started out with Lisa and Chuck then it was Ray playing the Ukulele. Then Daniel and Michael had there turns at the mike. Then it was Todd & Rory doing their fine set followed by Rowan playing Keys. That was the regulars. Then we were graced by the music of Dave Manning. From Alaska he plays around town a lot and has his own unique style.
The night was just getting good as there were two bands traveling together that as they were passing threw Nevada City and going to Purdon to enjoy the Yuba had two flat tires and were unable to make it to Tahoe to play so they played at the Open Mike instead. The first was The Mumlers from Santa Cruz. They have their own style of music even playing the Hand Saw on some songs. I just loved these guys and their music and Pierre from the Crazy Horse asked them to come back to play again.
They were followed by the band Painted Cakes from Oakland. Another great band and friends of the Mumlers. They also played original music and were awesome. The night was the best Open Mike in along time. Just goes to show that you never know what to expect at the Open Mike.
